The Low-Commitment Entry Point
15-Min Strategy Call Guide
Senior Bookkeeper & Virtual Accountant · The Fast, Frictionless First Conversation
Why This Call Format Exists
A Shorter, Lower-Pressure First Step
Not every prospect is ready to commit to a full 20-minute discovery call. The 15-Minute Strategy Call is a faster, lower-commitment entry point — perfect for busy founders, cold outreach responses, or anyone who's curious but hesitant. It's designed to build enough trust and clarity to naturally lead into the full discovery process, or in simple cases, straight to a proposal.
15-Min Strategy Call
Use when: cold outreach response, busy prospect, simple/straightforward business, first-ever conversation, low-commitment ask needed to get someone on the phone at all.
20-Min Discovery Call
Use when: warm lead already engaged for weeks, complex business needing deep diagnosis, prospect explicitly asked for a "discovery call," high-likelihood close.
The Strategic Purpose
This call has ONE job: earn the right to a deeper conversation. It is not meant to fully diagnose their finances or close a sale — it's meant to build enough rapport and curiosity that they WANT the fuller conversation next.
The Structure
Minute-by-Minute Breakdown
0-2
Min
Quick Warm Open
"Hi [Name], thanks for hopping on! I know you're busy, so I'll keep this quick and focused. I just want to learn a little about your business and see if there's a way I can genuinely help. Sound good?"
2-10
Min
3 Rapid Diagnostic Questions
Ask only the highest-value questions — no time for all 8. Pick: "What does your business do?", "What does your bookkeeping look like right now?", and "What's the biggest financial frustration for you currently?" Listen closely — this is where the real signal is.
10-13
Min
One Sharp, Relevant Insight
Based on what they shared, offer ONE genuinely useful observation — not a full audit, just a taste of your expertise. "Based on what you're describing, that sounds a lot like a [specific pattern] I see often with [their business type] — that's usually very fixable."
13-15
Min
The Bridge to Next Step
"I'd love to dig a bit deeper into your specific situation — would you be open to a slightly longer call, maybe 20 minutes, where I can give you a much clearer picture of what I'd recommend? I have [day/time] or [day/time] open."
If They Want to Skip Straight to a Decision
Simple Cases — Going Direct
When the Business Is Simple & They're Ready Now
"Honestly, based on what you've shared, this seems like a great fit for my [Starter/Professional] package. I can send over a simple proposal today so you can review it whenever works for you — no need for a longer call unless you have more questions. Would that work?"
When to Use This Shortcut
Only skip the full discovery call when the business is genuinely simple (solopreneur, low transaction volume, clear single package fit) AND the prospect has expressed clear readiness. When in doubt, always default to booking the fuller 20-minute call.
Preparation
Before Every 15-Minute Call
The Core Philosophy
"A great 15-minute call doesn't try to do everything. It does one thing extremely well: it makes the prospect think, 'I need to talk to her again.' That's the entire win condition."
